Better Child Care for America's Families

Press Release

Date: Sept. 15, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of S. 1086, the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 2014:

"Thousands of low-income parents are working, pursuing an education, and enrolling in job training to support their families. As they work to improve their families' lives, these parents need access to child care services. This bicameral and bipartisan bill reforms, simplifies, and better coordinates the current child care and development block grant program by increasing access to information, enhancing parental choice, and reserving funds for use at the state level.

"I would like to thank Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) and Education and Workforce Chairman John Kline (MN-02) for their work on this bill, helping to give families the opportunity to better their lives. The House will continue to advance policies that empower working families to build a better future for themselves."
